And she's just like a maze where all of the walls continually change.

I have a few New Year's resolutions kicking around in my head right now along with a nagging 'rent's due!' reminder and the face of a curly haired almost-stranger. It's like a tennis match in my brain, each thought a hard, bright projectile that smacks the walls of my head and demands immediate action, of which I will deliver none. My resolutions are mostly booze-related, I'm having too much fun here. The night before Shadow died I went out to the bar alone, something I rarely, if never, do. I sat at a table nursing beer, watching people dance, and occasionally talking to the waitress. I told her my friends were coming to avoid having to explain my solo status. I wanted to get drunk enough to dance. As I sipped my second to last beer, a guy wandered up to my table and boldly began chatting me up. He was decent looking, and if he wasn't lying, a coast guard employee and a paramedic. Cha-ching! I gave him my number and decided to head outside and see who was mingling. On the way out I caught a glimpse of a toque and poked my way through the crowd to find Shaun! He was with Matt and Dana and they must have been pre-drinking cuz they all gave me big hugs. We met up with a few other guys, one who looked like Jesus, and another who started out hot but slowly got more and more intoxicated until I practically had to rip myself out of his arms as we were leaving. I left him standing in the parking lot looking absolutely heart broken to follow Shaun and crew. The four of us careened around town drinking coke and 151 out of a 2L then caught a cab to Matt's. We chilled for a while, then Shaun and I cruised home in the Miata listening to Cake. The next night was Dana's b-day and after watching wrestling and eating some KD, Shaun, Sadie and I went over to his place. I knew no one but managed to mingle. Dana's band played some awesome jazzy stuff which nicely wound the night down. The party condensed into the living room and then slowly shrank to me, Dana, and a couple band/room mates. We smoked some rose shisha and jammed acoustic and at the end of the night I climbed the narrow stairs into a warm bed and drowned in smiling eyes.

I love it here.
